Our competition law specialists provide advice with respect to merger control, cartels, abuse of dominant position and State aide. Our competition team is led by Didier Théophile.
With significant experience in major transactions, which are generally cross-border, our competition group has a premier reputation in merger control matters. We have advised on numerous “Phase II” notification procedures in recent years, including appeals. In addition to matters before the French competition authority and the European Commission, we coordinate matters involving foreign competition authorities via our worldwide network of competition experts.
In conjunction with the mergers and acquisitions group, we counsel clients from the inception of transaction planning in order to articulate a deal calendar in light of potential merger control issues. We also advise on business combinations and the establishment of joint ventures.
In addition to merger control, our team possesses significant expertise in antitrust procedures. We represent plaintiffs as well as defendants in proceedings involving anticompetitive practices (illegal cartels, abuse of dominant position) before EU and French authorities and courts.
Finally, our group is recognized for its expertise both on an advisory level and in connection with disputes involving regulated sectors (audiovisual, banking and insurance, energy, gaming, post, telecommunications and public transportation) in which it acts jointly with the administrative law team.
