Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier announces the appointment of five new counsels

Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier, an independent French law firm, announces the appointment of Paul Bertrand, Stanislas Darrois, Tristan Gautier, Thibault Verron and Maxime Wach as counsels, effective 1 January 2026. The new counsels will join the mergers and acquisitions, litigation and criminal business law departments.
These appointments illustrate the wealth of talent within the firm and its commitment to promoting excellence within Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier. It also demonstrates the central role played by the new generation of lawyers in the firm’s development and its ability to adapt to major contemporary economic, financial and institutional challenges.
Through their backgrounds, commitment and expertise, these new counsels embody the firm’s values while strengthening its strategic practices in a rapidly changing environment.
Paul Bertrand, aged 33, started his career at the firm in 2017. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions, as well as capital markets, with a particular focus on strategic and cross-border transactions, joint ventures, and corporate governance. He advises listed and unlisted companies, as well as executives, shareholders and investment funds, across a range of sectors. In 2023, he was seconded to Macfarlanes in London. Paul holds a Master’s degree in Business Law and Taxation from Panthéon-Assas University (Paris II).
Stanislas Darrois, aged 34, lawyer admitted to the bars of Paris and New York, joined the firm in 2017 after spending a year in the corporate department of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York. He specialises in civil, commercial and administrative proceedings, particularly before the French Financial Markets Authority, involving high strategic stakes. His work covers litigation relating to mergers and acquisitions, CSR rules, securities law, shareholder activism, and relations between shareholders or competitors. Alongside his litigation work, Stanislas has advised on strategic mergers and acquisitions, working with listed and unlisted companies, entrepreneurs, and family-owned groups. He holds an LL.M. from New York University School of Law, a Master’s degree in Law and Management from EDHEC Business School, and a Master’s degree from Panthéon-Sorbonne University (Paris I).
Tristan Gautier, aged 34, started his career at the firm in 2017. He assists the firm’s clients, including executives, listed and unlisted companies, and public figures, with criminal business law matters, providing defence and civil case representation in numerous cases involving breaches of integrity, such as corruption, embezzlement, and the illegal taking of interest, as well as tax fraud and misuse of company assets. He is recognised as an expert in criminal procedure and regularly provides training on criminal risk in business to the firm’s clients. Tristan is a Sciences Po Paris graduate with a Master’s degree in economic law specialising in economic litigation and arbitration.
Thibault Verron, aged 35, joined the firm in 2021, having started his career in 2017 at a French law firm. He primarily works in mergers and acquisitions, representing listed and unlisted companies, as well as investment funds, across a range of sectors. Thibault graduated from the Grande École programme at EMLYON Business School and the University of Aix-Marseille.
Maxime Wach, aged 34, started his career at the firm in 2018. He is a member of the mergers and acquisitions and capital markets team. He provides a wide range of services to listed and unlisted companies, family groups and investment funds, including assistance with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings and capital markets transactions. He has extensive experience in securities law and corporate governance, particularly in connection with public offerings and defending against shareholder activism. He was seconded to Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York from 2022 to 2023. Maxime holds an LL.M. from Columbia Law School and two Master 2 degrees, one in banking and financial law and one in business law and taxation, both from Panthéon-Assas University (Paris II) and Panthéon-Sorbonne University (Paris I) respectively.
