Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier advised Société Générale and Crédit du Nord in connection with their merger

Paris, 17 January 2023

Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier advised Société Générale and Crédit du Nord in connection with the completion, on 1st January 2023, of the legal merger of their retail banking networks in France.

The legal merger is an important step in the merger of the two networks, initiated in 2020, that marks the effective creation of a new retail bank called SG serving 10 million customers.

The Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier team was led by Bertrand Cardi, Henri Savoie and Laurent Gautier (partners) and includes Arthur Santelli on corporate and M&A aspects, Jean-Baptiste Aubert (counsel) and Guillaume Griffart on regulatory aspects, and Vincent Agulhon (partner) and Pierre Dabin on tax aspects.

Société Générale and Crédit du Nord were also advised by Capstan for labor law aspects and CMS Monaco for Monegasque law and regulatory aspect.
